JOE MANTZ

A Seattle native, Joe joined Collier Walsh Nakazawa in 2025. Joe's practice primarily involves representing shipping companies and P&I Clubs on matters involving admiralty and maritime law, marine insurance, and vessel operations.

Joe graduated cum laude from Seattle University School of Law. While in law school, Joe served as a Judicial Extern to the Honorable Michelle L. Peterson of the United States District Court for the Western District of Washington and served as an extern to the United States Department of Justice, Aviation, Space & Admiralty Litigation Civil Division, Torts Branch.

Before entering the legal profession, Joe spent over a decade at sea. A graduate of the United States Merchant Marine Academy, he holds an active U.S. Coast Guard Second
​Mate Unlimited License. Upon graduation, he accepted a commission in the U.S. Navy and served on active duty as Surface Warfare Officer for 13 years. He has extensive experience leading mid--sized teams in the operation and maintenance of ships and complex weapons systems. He currently serves as a Lieutenant Commander in the U.S. Navy Reserves as a staff officer with Military Sealift Command, Pacific.
